Neurofeedback

Training the brain to regulate itself

Neurofeedback is a sophisticated technique that enables individuals to learn how to regulate their brain wave patterns indirectly. During a typical neurofeedback session, electrodes are placed on the scalp to monitor the brain's electrical activity in real time. This data is processed and displayed as visual, auditory and/or tactile feedback, which the individual observes while engaging in their treatment protocol.

Neurofeedback contacts: Breann N. Martin, PsyD, Jordan Martin and John Ross.

What conditions can neurofeedback help with?

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Multiple studies have demonstrated that neurofeedback can lead to improvements in attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity in individuals with ADHD, often resulting in a reduction in medication use.

  • Anxiety disorders

Research indicates that neurofeedback can help manage symptoms of anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks, by targeting and regulating overactive brain regions associated with anxiety.

  • Depression

Several studies have shown that neurofeedback can improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression by balancing brain activities that relate to emotional regulation.

  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Neurofeedback has been used to treat PTSD by stabilizing and optimizing brain function, thereby reducing symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, and hypervigilance.

  • Sleep disorders

Neurofeedback training can assist in regulating sleep patterns and improving sleep quality, and is particularly beneficial for conditions like insomnia and restless legs syndrome.
